01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

With the savory aroma of gently simmered sauces and the subtle sweetness of Taiwanese teas in the air, Yuka Sabo feels like an unpretentious neighborhood diner transported straight from Taiwan.

The signature lu rou fan delivers steady comfort with its sweet-savory braised pork coating hot rice, which can be lifted further with a spoonful of fragrant house-made chili oil. Among the braised meats, pork cartilage rice is especially well regarded, known for tender cartilage slow-cooked until it yields effortlessly to the bite. The braised selections are extensive, also including collagen-rich braised pig trotters and intestine rice topped with offal simmered in a special sauce.

For noodles, the intestine misua (da chang mian xian) is a staple, featuring thin wheat vermicelli suspended in a thickened bonito broth. Subtly seasoned yet satisfyingly savory, it is also available in combination sets paired with a mini bowl of lu rou fan to sample both classics in one go.

To finish the meal or take a quiet afternoon break, diners frequently turn to douhua, the traditional Taiwanese soft tofu pudding. The mixed douhua comes topped with chewy taro balls, tapioca pearls, and soft-cooked peanuts in a light, refreshing syrup that never feels heavy. A varied tea menu rounds out the offerings with choices such as tea-jelly milk tea.

Operating hours concentrate mainly from late afternoon into the evening, and payment is cash only. Takeout and delivery options are also available.
